Aerospace & Defense

Tooling, precision assemblies and ground support equipment, held at 43 to 50 percent relative humidity.

Tooling, precision assemblies and ground support equipment — where surface condition matters as much as the part itself.

Aerospace components are unforgiving about storage in a way most industrial equipment is not. A machined mating face that has pitted is not a cosmetic problem; it is a part that may no longer be acceptable. And the lead time to replace it is rarely short.

What we store

  • Tooling, jigs and fixtures between programs
  • Precision machined assemblies and components
  • Ground support equipment
  • Test and calibration equipment
  • Crated components awaiting release or inspection
  • Long-term lay-up between contracts

Why humidity is the whole issue

Above roughly 50 to 60% relative humidity, atmospheric corrosion of steel accelerates sharply. Gulf Coast summers routinely run 70 to 90%.

We hold 43 to 50% relative humidity year round in purpose-built warehousing — below the threshold, with margin, and not so dry that elastomeric seals and timber crating dry out and crack. How that works.

For bare metal, sealing faces, instrumentation and anything with a documented lay-up procedure, that number is the service. Everything else is logistics.

Handling without incident

Overhead cranes rather than improvised lifting, and certified riggers on staff. Precision assemblies do not respond well to being wrestled, and handling damage on an aerospace component is expensive in a way that is disproportionate to the effort of avoiding it.

If your parts arrive with handling instructions, send them with the equipment and we will follow them. If they have a specified lay-up procedure, tell us and we will tell you honestly whether we can meet it.

Over forty years storing industrial equipment near the Houston Ship Channel. We have even stored space shuttle parts.
