Oil, Gas & Refining

Compressor packages, heat exchangers, vessels and turnaround spares, a short haul from the refineries.

Compressor packages, heat exchangers, vessels, pumps and turnaround spares — stored a short haul from the refineries and terminals they belong to.

This is the largest part of what we do, and the reason we are in Pasadena rather than somewhere cheaper further out. When a plant needs something back, it usually needs it that day.

What we store for oil, gas and refining

  • Gas compressor packages and skid-mounted equipment
  • Heat exchangers, coolers and pressure vessels
  • Pumps, motors and rotating equipment
  • Valves, piping, spools and structural steel
  • Turnaround and outage spares, held and released to schedule
  • Complete process modules between projects

Turnarounds

Turnaround windows do not move, and everything has to be on hand before one opens. We hold materials and spares in the run-up and release them as the schedule calls for them — so the plant is not storing it, and it is not sitting on a trailer.

Afterwards, equipment that came out and is not going back in has somewhere to go while its future is decided.

Indoors, outdoors, or humidity controlled

Refinery equipment covers the full range. A skid frame is fine on the yard. Its control panel is not. A spare motor going into two-year lay-up belongs in humidity controlled space at 43 to 50% relative humidity, where corrosion stops.

Getting that split right is most of the value. We will tell you honestly which is which rather than quoting whatever is easiest to sell.

Handling

Overhead cranes to 100,000 pounds in tandem, forklifts to 65,000 pounds, and outside crane companies beyond that — we routinely handle equipment well over 200,000 pounds. More on rigging and handling.

On request we also carry out preservation work while equipment is with us: shaft rotation, motor space heaters, oil misting and nitrogen purge, so a spare comes out ready to run.
