Laydown Yard

Twelve acres of stabilized yard in Pasadena for project staging, construction equipment and materials.

Twelve acres of stabilized yard in Pasadena for project staging, construction equipment and materials waiting on a schedule that has moved.

Projects rarely run to the plan they were quoted on. Equipment arrives before the site is ready, a turnaround slips two weeks, a fabricator delivers early because their shop needs the floor space. The material still has to go somewhere, and it cannot sit on a job site that is not ready for it.

What the yard is for

  • Project staging — materials held and released as the schedule calls for them
  • Construction equipment storage between jobs or between phases
  • Turnaround and outage support — everything on hand before the window opens
  • Heavy equipment waiting on a site, a permit or a crane date
  • Structural steel, piping, vessels and skids staged for installation
  • Overflow when a fabrication shop or job site has run out of room

Why the surface matters

The yard is stabilized and graded to drain. On unimproved ground, heavy equipment sinks after a wet week, tilts, and becomes an expensive problem to retrieve — and Houston has plenty of wet weeks.

Standing water is the other issue. It attacks the parts nobody inspects: skid rails, base plates, the underside of a frame. Drainage is not a detail on a laydown yard, it is most of the job.

Getting it in and out on schedule

A laydown yard is only useful if material comes back out when it is called for. We handle the loading and unloading ourselves, with forklifts from 5,000 to 65,000 pounds and certified riggers on staff — so a release is a phone call, not a scheduling exercise involving three companies.

For anything heavier, we bring in crane companies we work with regularly, or work alongside your own. More on rigging and handling.

Where we are

3302 Lilac Street, Pasadena — under ten miles from most Houston Ship Channel terminals, including Barbours Cut, and close to the refineries and fabrication yards most of our customers work from. Short hauls, and material that can be released the same day it is called for.

Tell us what is coming, roughly how much space it needs and how long you expect it to sit. Call (281) 809-6006 or send us the details.
