Outdoor Storage

Twelve acres of stabilized outdoor storage and laydown yard in Pasadena, graded to drain and built for heavy equipment.

Twelve acres of stabilized yard in Pasadena — outdoor storage and laydown yard, graded to drain, gated, and built for equipment that arrives on a lowboy.

Not every asset needs to be under roof. Skids, vessels, structural steel, construction plant and gas compressor packages are built to sit outside. What they need is firm ground that will not rut, drainage that works in a Gulf Coast downpour, a fence, and people who can get them off the trailer without damaging anything.

The yard

A stabilized base, not raw dirt. That matters more than it sounds. Heavy equipment parked on unimproved ground sinks, tilts, and becomes difficult and expensive to retrieve — particularly after a wet week in Houston. A stabilized surface carries the load and stays workable in weather.

The yard is graded to drain. Standing water around stored equipment is how corrosion starts on the parts nobody inspects — skid rails, base plates, the underside of a frame.

Some of what sits on the yard

  • Construction and heavy equipment
  • Project staging and laydown yard for turnarounds and new builds
  • Oil and gas field equipment
  • Petrochemical and process equipment
  • Gas compressor packages
  • Heat exchangers and coolers
  • Containers
  • Structural steel, piping and vessels

Getting it off the truck

This is where outdoor storage providers differ most. Plenty of yards will sell you a fenced rectangle and leave the rigging to you.

We handle loading and unloading — our own equipment and certified riggers for most of it, and crane companies we have worked with for years when a lift needs more.

Or use your own hauler and crane company of choice. Plenty of customers do, and we will coordinate site access and work alongside them. Either way, awkward, heavy and off-center loads are routine here rather than a problem you have to solve on your own. More on how that works.

When outdoor is the wrong answer

If the asset has bare machined surfaces, electrical components, instrumentation or sealing faces, Gulf Coast humidity will find them. Months outdoors in Houston air is not a neutral event for that kind of equipment.

For those, look at climate and humidity controlled storage, where we hold relative humidity between 43 and 50% year round. We would rather move you to the right service than store something badly and have you find out two years later.

Using the yard as project staging rather than long-term storage? That is the same twelve acres, worked differently — see laydown yard.
